Features of each One-Page Brief
Built with decision-makers and refined over time, this FOREmat gives every brief a consistent structure to maximise clarity, relevance, and impact.
Consistent one-page structure
All briefs follow the same Problem → Context → Advice → Precedent format for quick reading.
Support snapshot
Lists the number of endorsers and who they are, like an open letter, open for groups to join.
Actionable legislative recommendation
A clear, specific change that decision-makers can implement.
Hyperlinks
All claims in the brief are hyperlinked directly to their source material, making it easy for readers to verify the evidence and explore the supporting research in more detail.
Identifies responsible decision-maker
Names the Minister, department, or authority with the power to act.
What do we do?
*In the simplest terms
IDENTIFY an expert- proposed solution
Drawn from academia, frontline advocacy, or community-led initiatives. We look for ideas that are evidence-based, actionable, and non-partisan.
DRAFT a one-page policy brief
Using our consistent Problem → Context → Advice → Precedent format. This makes it easy to scan, compare, and act on without wading through lengthy reports.
PUBLISH in our online Bottom Drawer
Where policymakers, staffers, and advocates can search by topic or jurisdiction, check how much support it has, and access the full brief with references and context.
TRACK support (Support Snapshot)
Each brief includes a Support Snapshot, showing which experts & organisations have already endorsed the idea. This works like an open letter groups can sign on to.

Why should I trust what I read?
Thorough internal review
Working with experts, we’re building Australia’s first Policy Library of One-Page Briefs - an online, centralised resource helping policymakers quickly find, evaluate, and act on evidence-based policy solutions.

External expert review
Our youth-led model fuels the Library. Each semester, we train 80-100 volunteer participants (selected from hundreds of applicants) who volunteer to help build the Library 1-4 days each week. In return, they get critical early career policy experience and an opportunity to publish on topics that are important to them.

Full reference list
Since mid 2024, we’ve launched in Federal and Victorian parliaments, trained over 350 new policy professionals, and published briefs that have made it onto the floor of parliament - all to help make reform faster and fairer.
